Google has just announced via +Sara McKinley, that it is rolling out new features for Google + Pages and profiles. The most obvious change is to cover photos, which are now much bigger!
Google Plus Cover Photo Size
The new size of Google Plus cover photos is an image that is up to 2120px by 1192px. The "up to" bit mrans that the smallest size your cover photo can be (so that it displays on all devices) is 480 x 720 pixels, but that the largest image possible is recommended to suit everything from smartphones to massive HD televisions.
The new Google Plus cover photo dimensions are exactly the same as the full size of the new YouTube one channel size, which is also 2120 X 1192.
The official word reads:
"Bigger cover photos, with a better aspect ratio. Cover photos are much larger than before (up to 2120px by 1192px), and they display in 16x9 when fully expanded. This way more images can be used as cover photos, and there’s more room for your selection to shine."
New Google Plus Profile Photo
The Google Plus profile image has been changed from a square to a circle.
When there is more information about these image changes, I'll post them here and design a free template for you too. What are your first thoughts? Do you like the new Google Plus cover photos or do you prefer the old one?
